Vamsam Movie Reviews

Vamsam is not a film that just entertains us, it also portrays the lives of people living in the interior of our state and shows their belief and pride and rage. It also conveys the message that one should be proud of his vamsam, in other words plainly one should be proud of what he is.

Tamilarasu and his mother live away from their village. They live a peaceful life their. He unlike his late father always tries to stay out of trouble and be friendly with everyone. Even when his father’s enemies attack him he just runs away from them, he never attacks them back. Tamilarasu is the last man left in his vamsam. On the other hand there is seeni kannu. He is the bad man of the village. As the story progresses arasu falls in love with malar. While things are going smoothly senni kannu kills malar’s father. In return malar insults him in front of the whole village and beats him with a broomstick. Unable to take the insult seeni kannu sends his men to kill malar. When arasu and malar are alone senni kannu’s men show up. To escape from them they but eventually they are surrounded by them. Now tamil is left with no other option but to fight them to save malar. So he fights. This complicates things. Then later on he learns from his mother that seeni kannu was the cause for his father’s death. After this how tamil stands up against seeni kannu and how he restores the pride of his vamsam forms the rest of the story.

Vamsam has turned out to be a dream debut for arul nidhi. Director Pandiarajan has given a superb commercial entertainer as his second film. In this film he has followed a different making style and it has come out well too. The tiruvizha sequence has been filmed very well and is a delight to watch. The effort taken behind the lens to film the same is evident on screen. Cinematography in the film is very good. The film has the right balance of action, romance, comedy and sentiment. Comedy in the film is fresh and funny. Sunaina has done a good job. Arul nidhi has a good voice and has acted really well for a debut film. Music is a major strong point of the film. Another strong point of the film is its casting. All the characters have acted well and have fitted their respective roles perfectly. On the whole vamsam has fulfilled all the expectations created prior to its release and is a must watch!
